We were asked to generate a simple parametric model that could be buildable thanks to 2D laser cutting.
We decided to work with the well known surface called the ‘Klein bottle’ which is a non-orientable surface, informally, a surface with no identifiable «inner» and «outer» sides. Then we have developed a Grasshopper definition (code) that faceted the surface, create openings, unroll it and number it. Once the facets are drawn on the identify plans, it is really easy to create the file ready for the laser cutting, laser cut and then assemble the whole structure.
