Dense housing: house for telecommuters

2007-2008

The subject was to identify a population and to imagine small houses for this population in the indicated location.

House =

Living place + Working place

Regarding the increasing number of people working from home, I wanted to rethink the concept of family house including this new use. How the two spaces should be connected? How to offer sociability to telecommuters? I proposed to create the working place on the roof and to create a ‘promenade’ that connects the roofs. This encourages telecommuters to meet and makes it possible to have common spaces easily accessible like a conference room or a technical room. I didn’t want to create a direct access from the house to the working space, I’ve imagined a transition area though an outdoor vegetalised stair.
